Hoang Son fly ash processing plant solve issues of quality control

In Vietnam, except for readymix companies using PCB40 or PCB50 into production, most concrete companies who produce precast structures still use OPC cement. This fact leads to increased CO2 emissions due to the use of 95% clinker in OPC cement and the difficulty to reduce coal used for clinker production, which is 100-120 kg coal per clinker ton, and exploitation of limestone and clay.

One of the most common additives to reduce cement in concrete mix proportion is fly ash. However, in Vietnam, the biggest challenge to precast structure companies is fly ash quality control. Currently, there are 30 thermal powerplants across Vietnam, with total fly ash quantity produced is 17-18 million ton/year. The responsibility for quality control of fly ash does not belong to the powerplant but belongs to the end users.

Two key quality indicators of FA is LOI and Residue on sieve 45 micron, which affect directly to quality of concrete and cement, especially strength activity index.

Hoang Son’s fly ash processing plant officially operated since 2023 solved the above problems. We are proud to be a pioneer and expert in quality control of fly ash. In September 2024, Hoang Son exported a shipment of Hoang Son Ultra Fine Ash to Singapore. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the support of specialists and the efforts of our team, which transform fly ash from a by-product of power plant to a high value product and create sustainable value.
